Suspect In Trafficking Case Overdoses In Hope

Last updated on Monday, November 14, 2016

(HOPE) - A suspect in a drug trafficking case was arrested again Wednesday after overdosing at a home in Hope.

Hope police officers revived 25-year-old Ryan Redmon who was found unconscious and not breathing in a home in the 700 block of Main Street Wednesday.

Officers were called to the residence on a report of a possibly dead person in the bathroom, said Marshal Matt Tallent. Believing the victim had overdosed, officers gave him two doses of Narcan, a drug that counteracts the effects of opiate overdoses. Police and firefighters then moved the body from the bathroom to a bedroom so they could work on him.

After he was moved, officers found two syringes, a spoon with scorch marks and a lighter within reach of the victim, identified as Redmon.

About five minutes after the second dose of Narcan, Redmon regained consciousness, Tallent said. He was taken to Columbus Regional Hospital for treatment.

Tallent said that Redmon had been put on house arrest, just that morning.

According to police records, Redmon, from Columbus, had been arrested twice in October. In the second arrest, on Oct. 25th, he was arrested by the Bartholomew County Joint Narcotics Team and was implicated as a part of an investigation into smuggling drugs into the community, according to the Columbus Police Department.

Tallent said Redmon's probation officer was notified of the situation. Officers was arrested at the hospital after he was treated. He is facing preliminary charges of possession of paraphernalia and possession of a drug injection device, as well as a probation violation.
