James H. Young Elected To Serve As Indiana Judicial Nominating Commission/Judicial Qualification Commission

(INDIANAPOLIS) - James H. Young elected Judicial Nominating Commission/Judicial Qualifications Commission district two representative.

James H. Young has been elected to serve as the Indiana Judicial Nominating Commission/Judicial Qualification Commission (JNC/JQC) district two representative. Young was elected by attorneys to fill a vacancy that will occur December 31 when attorney Lee Christie's term expires.

Ballots were sent to attorneys in district two which is made up of Adams, Blackford, Carroll, Cass, Clinton, Delaware, Grant, Hamilton, Howard, Huntington, Jay, Madison, Marion, Miami, Tippecanoe, Tipton, Wabash, Wells, and White counties. The Clerk of the Appellate Courts collected the ballots and certified Young received the most votes.

Mr. Young is a partner with Young & Young. He graduated from Indiana University and earned his law degree cum laude from Indiana University - McKinney School of Law. Young has served on the Board of Directors of the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association and has been a member of the American Association of Justice.

The JNC/JQC is established by the Indiana Constitution and staffed by the Office of Judicial Administration. It recruits and interviews applicants to fill appellate court vacancies, selects the Chief Justice of Indiana, and investigates allegations of judicial misconduct. The Commission is made up of seven members--three are appointed by the Governor and three are elected by attorneys. Chief Justice Loretta Rush chairs the Commission. The three appointed members are David Tinkey, Lynette Long, and Rudy Yakym III. The three elected attorneys are Charlie Berger, Lee Christie (who Young will replace), and John Feighner.
