Eric Koch Victory Moves Him From Indiana House To Indiana Senate

Last updated on Wednesday, November 9, 2016

(UNDATED) - After more than a decade as a state representative, Republican Eric Koch is moving on to the Indiana Senate thanks to a landslide victory Tuesday night.

With 86 percent of precincts reporting, Koch had more than 31,000 votes, compared with about 12,000 for Democrat Linda Henderson and about 1,700 for Libertarian Darin Kinser.

"It's very humbling," Koch said. "It's the culmination of over a year of focused, highly disciplined campaigning that included a primary challenge."

Koch served as the representative for state House District 65 for 14 years, and said while Senate District 44 has a much larger population, much of the geography is the same. House District 65 includes all of Brown County, most of Lawrence County and parts of Monroe, Jackson and Johnson counties. Senate District 44 includes all or portions of Bartholomew, Brown, Jackson, Lawrence and Monroe counties.
