Duke Energy's Marketing Partnership Program Provides Grants To 12 Indiana Economic Development Groups

(PLAINFIELD) - Twelve local economic development groups in Indiana have each received grants ranging from $2,500 to $7,500 to help them create effective marketing plans to attract jobs and businesses to their regions.

Duke Energy's Marketing Partnership Program provides grants totaling more than $58,000 to 12 Indiana economic development groups

"Through Duke Energy's Marketing Partnership Program, we provide funding to local and regional economic development organizations in our service territory to help attract jobs and business investment," said Erin Schneider, Duke Energy Indiana director of economic development. "We're proud to support these groups who are working hard to bring economic vitality to their communities."

The awardees include:

  • Radius Indiana to implement an Economic Development 101 class for community leaders and elected officials
  • Shelby County for a marketing tool to help identify all automotive parts suppliers in the county, highlighting the fact that the county is an automotive parts manufacturing hub
  • Terre Haute Regional Airport for a marketing plan to target maintenance, repair and overhaul service for the aerospace industry
  • Madison County to market its "Venture 69 Project," highlighting business and industry opportunities along Interstate 69
  • Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership to develop a multi-media marketing campaign to showcase the region
  • Southwest Indiana Development Council to market the region's brand identity and help bring awareness to the nine-county region
  • Hendricks County for a marketing program focused on specific properties in combination with a targeted industry study
  • One Southern Indiana to conduct a year-long, multi-media marketing initiative
  • East Central Indiana Regional Partnership to partner with the Japan America Society of Indiana for a trip to Japan to visit existing companies and market the region. (More than 300 Japanese businesses conduct manufacturing operations throughout Indiana.)
  • Boone County to create innovative marketing materials targeted to specific locations served by Duke Energy
  • Grant County to help support a social media campaign
  • Howard County to create marketing materials for existing companies to share with their existing employees and potential employees to encourage them to live in Kokomo

Duke Energy selected the economic development groups through a competitive grant application process that demonstrated their plans for creating and achieving long-term strategic goals.

Duke Energy Indiana's operations provide about 7,100 megawatts of owned electric capacity to approximately 810,000 customers in a 23,000-square-mile service area, making it the state's largest electric supplier.
