(INDIANAPOLIS) - A man who was one of five people charged in a deadly Indianapolis house explosion has reached a plea deal.
An agreement filed Wednesday calls for 50-year-old Glenn Hults to plead guilty to assisting a criminal. A judge has set a December 28 hearing to consider the plea.
Jury selection was underway Wednesday in Hults' trial on a conspiracy to commit arson charge when the agreement was filed. That charge would be dismissed, and Hults would face a sentence of up to three years in prison.
Prosecutors charged Hults and four others in a plot to destroy a house with a natural gas explosion to claim insurance money. The November 2012 blast killed two people and devastated a neighborhood.
Two co-defendants have been convicted and two others previously pleaded guilty.
