Last updated on Wednesday, October 5, 2016

(MUNCIE) - Muncie man arrested after trooper finds drugs during traffic stop.

Saturday night just before 9 p.m., as Indiana State Trooper Sam Cook was driving through Muncie, he saw a car turn from Jackson Street onto southbound Madison Street without a turn signal. Cook activated his lights and got the car stopped at Madison and Charles streets. The car was occupied by four adults, so Troopers Tinch and Harvey, who were nearby, came to assist.

After making contact with the female driver, Cook could smell the odor of marijuana in the vehicle. Further investigation revealed a small bag of powder believed to be heroin, and two handguns. One of the handguns had the serial number removed. The vehicle owner, 24-year-old Gunner Clark, of Muncie, was in the front passenger seat.

Clark was arrested and charged with possession of heroin, possession of a stolen firearm and possession of an altered handgun, Level 6 felonies, and also two counts of possession a firearm without a license, a Class A misdemeanor. He was lodged in the Delaware County Jail.

Also arrested was a 15-year-old male in the back seat. He was charged with the same charges as Clark and an addition charge of a probation violation and failure to provide identity. He was lodged in a juvenile detention facility.

The female driver and other male passenger were released at the scene.
