Woman Accused Of Beating Son With Coat Hanger Using Indiana's Religious Freedom Law As Defense

Last updated on Friday, September 2, 2016

(INDIANAPOLIS) - An Indianapolis mother accused of beating her seven-year-old son with a coat hanger says she’s protected by Indiana’s religious freedom law.

The Indianapolis Star reports, the woman is a Burmese refugee granted political asylum in the United States.

She claims her choice of discipline comes straight from her evangelical Christian beliefs.

The woman was arrested in February after welts were found on the boy by a teacher.
