Man Fleeing Police Runs Onto Governor's Property, Arrested By Secret Service

Last updated on Tuesday, September 6, 2016

(INDIANAPOLIS) - RTV6 reports a man was arrested when he ran onto the governor’s residence property while fleeing police Monday night.

The man was being chased by Indianapolis police officers when he ran onto the property at 46th and Meridian Streets, which point he was "very quickly" taken into custody by Secret Service agents and Indiana State Police Troopers.

Governor Pence has been under additional protection from the Secret Service since he was selected as Donald Trump's running mate.

Pence wasn't at the governor's residence at the time, having spent the day campaigning in Canfield, Ohio.

It's not immediately clear why the man was running from police in the first place.
