Gas Prices Increasing, But Still Cheaper Than This Time Last Year

Last updated on Thursday, September 1, 2016

(UNDATED) - American Automobile Association says gas prices have been steadily increasing for the past few weeks.

The national average, as of Monday, was reportedly $2.22, six cents more than it was a week ago, and that has made some cringe as they pull up to fill 'er up.

It shouldn't.

Gas prices are still 27 cents cheaper than they were this time last year - and are on pace to be the lowest since Labor Day Weekend in 2004. As a result, 55% of Americans say they are "more likely to take a road trip this year due to lower gas prices," AAA says, citing a survey.
