Former Heritage Elementary PTO Treasurer Sentenced

Last updated on Friday, September 16, 2016

(ALLEN CO.) - A Hoagland woman who served as the treasurer for the Heritage Elementary Parent Teacher Organization (P.T.O.) was sentenced as part of a plea agreement for a Class D Felony theft charge following her arrest back in March of this year.

An investigation was initiated, at the request of the Heritage High School P.T.O., by Indiana State Police Detective Clint Hetrick and Allen County Police Detective Doug Keller in November 2015 following an audit after a large amount of money was discovered to have been missing from the elementary P.T.O.

Hetrick and Keller's investigation revealed that between January 2013 and November 2014, 36 year old Genevieve M. Meyer had used the elementary P.T.O's credit card and had withdrawn money, together totaling in excess of $18,000. As a result of their investigation, the Allen County Prosecutor's Office originally charged 36 year old Genevieve M. Meyer with two counts of theft.

Meyer was sentenced to a three year suspended sentence, all three to be served on probation, and she was ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $18,599.08 to the Heritage High School P.T.O.
