Last updated on Thursday, September 1, 2016

(UNDATED) - Ten waterfalls found on DNR properties - including three at Clifty Falls State Park - are among 20 statewide that are in the latest Best of Indiana people’s choice contest announced by the Indiana Office of Tourism Development.

Visitors to the IOTD website (visitindiana.com/best-of-indiana) can cast up to five votes in the waterfall category and in two other categories - Best Winery Experience and Best Music Festival. Voting ends Oct. 28 and results will be announced Nov. 3.

"We love to celebrate everything about Honest-to-Goodness Indiana," said Mark Newman, executive director of IOTD. "This year's Best of Indiana categories allow us to showcase to travelers a sampling of the terrific outdoor recreation, agritourism destinations and culinary opportunities in Indiana."

Nominees for all three categories were recommended by members of Indiana's travel, tourism and hospitality industry.

The three waterfalls chosen from Clifty Falls State Park are Big Clifty Falls, Little Clifty Falls, and Tunnel Falls. The park is located near Madison in southern Indiana.

Other DNR waterfalls on the list are at Cataract Falls State Recreation Area, Cave River Valley Nature Preserve, Falls of the Ohio State Park, McCormick's Creek State Park, Salamonie River State Forest, Spring Mill State Park, and Turkey Run State Park.

In previous IOTD people's choice contests, Brown County State Park garnered first-place finishes in categories for best trails, fall foliage and fall camping adventure.
