(VIGO CO.) - Traffic on State Road 46 shifted lanes Thursday evening.
Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) reports this will involve moving northbound S.R. 46 traffic over to the southbound lanes south of the traffic signals at the I-70 eastbound interchange with S.R. 46.
Northbound traffic will then travel in the southbound lanes up to the signal at Margaret Avenue and then will return to the northbound lanes on S.R. 46.
The official speed limit will be 35 mph for this maintenance of traffic phase.
This shift is necessary to allow construction of the new pavement section for the northbound lanes of S.R. 46 and S.R. 641.
INDOT reminds drivers to use caution and consider worker safety when driving through a construction zone.
