Notre Dame Dismisses Senior Safety After Arrest

(SOUTH BEND) - The Notre Dame football team is minus one player after two separate incidents involving six players over the weekend.

Senior safety Max Redfield was dismissed from the team Sunday, according to a statement from Head Coach Brian Kelly, posted to the Notre Dame Athletics web page.

Redfield was arrested, along with players Ashton White, Dexter Williams, Kevin Stepherson and Te'Von Coney, were pulled over Friday night for speeding in Fulton County and were arrested for possession of marijuana.

Redfield, Stepherson and Williams are also charged with possession of a weapon without a license.

"On the basis of my review, I have decided to dismiss Max Redfield from our football team and place Devin Butler on indefinite suspension," Kelly says. "The other individuals, while not being separated from the team, will be subject to disciplinary measures internal to the football program."

Devin Butler was arrested early Saturday morning outside the Linebacker Lounge after police say he got into an argument with a group of ladies on the street corner, then cursed at and tackled a police officer before being tased.

He apologized in the police car.
