Last updated on Wednesday, August 17, 2016

(JASPER) - A Jasper doctor has been arrested on charges of dealing and possession of a narcotic drug.

Police arrested 49-year-old Michael S. Love Monday afternoon. He posted ond soon after being booked into the Dubois County Security Center.

Dr. Love has an orthopedics and sports practice in Jasper. At his initial hearing on Tuesday he pleaded not guilty to the offense. He will appear in court again for a pretrial conference on Sept. 6.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Indiana State Police say that on April 18, Love financed the delivery of at least 10 grams of the narcotic drug oxycodone hydrochloride and on April 20, illegally possessed at least 5 grams but less than 10 grams of the drug.

If found guilty, the maximum penalty for a Level 2 felony is a term of incarceration of 10 to 30 years and a fine of up to $10,000. The maximum penalty for a Level 5 felony is a term of incarceration for one to six years and, once again, a fine of up to $10,000.
