(INDIANAPOLIS) - September is National Recovery Month in the United States, which celebrates the successes of living life in recovery from mental illness and addiction.
During the month, Indiana holds many key events focusing on raising awareness about mental illness/addiction, celebrating healthy recovery and learning how to access treatment.
For the eighth year, the Indiana Division of Mental Health and Addiction has partnered with the Indiana Department of Correction to host "INARMS," the Indiana Annual Recovery Month Symposium. This two day event, scheduled on September 26 and 27, 2016, at the Marriott East, Indianapolis, is geared toward both treatment and criminal justice professionals who would like to learn more about mental health and addiction. The overarching theme for the 2016 symposium is "Our Families, Our Stories, Our Recovery."
"We are proud to, once again, provide an opportunity for mental health, substance abuse and criminal justice professionals to network, interact, learn and share ideas," said DMHA Director Kevin Moore. "Mental health and substance abuse issues have reached a crisis level in our state. We must continue to work together to seek solutions to these issues."
