I-70 To Close For Guardrail Replacements In Clay And Vigo Counties

Last updated on Tuesday, August 23, 2016

(VIGO/CLAY COUNTIES) - Starting on August 24 there will be overnight closures on Interstate 70 in both Vigo County and Clay County.

Indiana Department of Transportation reports I-70 between State Road 46 (exit 11) and State Road 59 (exit 23) will have overnight closures to replace guardrails that were damaged during recent crashes.

The plan is to close I-70 westbound on August 24 and eastbound on August 25 between 12:01 a.m. until 5 a.m. Indiana State Police will be assisting with the closures and detouring traffic along S.R. 59 and S.R. 46.

The contractor currently has the right lane closed in each direction between the 13.5 mile marker and the 14.5 mile marker while working on the bridges over Tabertown Street and Honey Creek.

American Contracting and Services was awarded this bridge deck overlay project on I-70 for $3.2 million. The project is scheduled for completion on November 15 of this year.

INDOT reminds motorists to follow the posted work zone speed limit, use caution and consider worker safety when traveling through a construction zone.
