Hoosiers Warned To Take Proper Precautions During Tornado Clean Up

(UNDATED) - As Hoosiers begin to assess and recover from the devastation due to a tornado outbreak across Indiana, the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) urges everyone to take proper precautions.

Avoid all downed power lines, report gas leaks and environmental spills, and follow proper disposal of debris.

Information regarding emergency debris rules and regulations for individuals and community/county leaders is available via IDEM's fact sheet at

IDEM emergency response officials in the field use this information to help inform and guide local first responders, solid waste management departments, and the general public to properly and safely dispose of debris related to emergencies and natural disasters.
