Two Teens Die After ATV Crash

(WEST TERRE HAUTE) - Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating a fatal ATV crash that claimed the lives of two West Terre Haute boys.

17-year-old urtis England and 16-year-old Jordan Herring both died from injuries sustained when the ATV they were operating struck a tree.

The crash occurred on Certain Road approximately 200 yards east of 9228 Certain Road, in West Terre Haute.

A 911 call was placed on Friday at 6:48 p.m. from a UPS driver who came upon the ATV on the edge of the roadway. CPR was administered by the UPS driver and a concerned citizen.

The ATV is a yellow, Yamaha, 350 Banshee, four-wheel ATV.

Preliminary investigation shows that they were attempting to negotiate a curve in the roadway when the ATV struck a tree.

The Terre Haute City Police Department Accident Reconstruction Team was contacted and assessed the scene. The cause of the crash is under investigation. It is unclear which boy was operating at the time of the crash; both were wearing helmets.

Sugar Creek Fire Department, West Terre Haute Police Department, Indiana State Police, Vigo County Sheriff's Department, Riley Medic 42, Transcare all assisted at the scene.
