Police Taser Suspect In Check Fraud Case

(COLUMBUS) - Columbus police used a Taser to subdue a man in a check fraud case at a local bank last week.

Columbus Police Lt. Matt Harris, says officers were called to a bank on 26th Street at about 3 p.m. on Thursday about a man allegedly trying to cash stolen checks. When police arrived, the man tried to flee, but police were able to stop him with their Taser.

When police searched 21-year-old Blake R. Nichols, they found drug paraphernalia and heroin.

Nichols was arrested on felony charges of fraud on a financial institution, possession of a legend drug injection device and heroin, in addition to several misdemeanor charges including possession of stolen property.
