(VERMILLION CO.) - The mother who was arrested in connection with a child neglect case in Clinton was sentenced on Thursday.

Danielle Woolley was charged with four counts of neglect of a dependent resulting in serious bodily injury.
The Vermillion County judge stated Woolley, "had inflicted a brutal, callous lifelong torture." He then handed down a maximum sentence of 64 years.

Woolley was arrested in October of 2015 after four children were removed from a home at 604 Vine Street. Police say there was raw sewage, human and animal feces inside inside the home.

Officials reported those children were severely malnourished when they were removed and had to be taken to Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis for treatment. They were then released into foster care.

Through tears Woolley told the court she never wanted to harm her children, but in recent years her depression spiraled out of control.

Along with Danielle, the children's father John Paul Woolley, the children's grandfather, Gordon Mark Woolley, and the children's grandmother Barbara Jo Woolley were arrested in 2015 as well.

John Paul Woolley entered a guilty plea back in March, but has not been sentenced yet. Gordon Mark Woolley changed his plea to guilty in late March as well.

Barbara Jo Woolley had requested a change of venue, but that was denied. She is set to face of a jury of her peers in August.

Testimony at Thursday's hearing revealed the health of the children is improving. They are learning to walk, speak, and eat solid foods. It's believed each will suffer long-term psychological and emotional damage.
