Jury Finds Man Guilty In Death Of Two I-69 Construction Workers

Last updated on Thursday, July 14, 2016

(INDIANAPOLIS) - A jury found a Fortville man guilty in the deaths of two construction workers during a crash in 2014.

A grand jury indicted Jordan Stafford in November 2015 for the May 2014 crash that killed highway workers Kenneth Duerson Jr. and Coty DeMoss. Both were working on I-69 when they were killed.

Stafford was charged with two counts of reckless operation in a highway work zone and two counts of failure to obey a traffic control device or flagman. The jury found him guilty on all four counts.

In announcing the indictment last year, Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry said "complex circumstances" led to a lengthy investigation that resulted in the case being turned over to a grand jury.

Stafford's jury trial began Monday.
