Last updated on Thursday, July 28, 2016

(CLAY CO.) - Indiana State Police continue to investigate the identity of a person arrested yesterday for reckless driving and resisting law enforcement on Interstate 70 near the 16.5 mile marker.

Troopers discovered that the 2002 Ford Taurus, driven by the suspect, was reported stolen out of Louisville, Kentucky.

The investigation is ongoing and the driver is currently incarcerated in the Clay County Jail.

Around 12:19 yesterday afternoon, the suspect was passing reportedly passing vehicles at a high rate of speed on the shoulder of westbound I-70 near the 16.5 mile marker, nearly striking two ISP troopers who were observing for the erratic driver. The driver ultimately lost control, traveled off the roadway and came to rest near a wooded area and fled on foot. Minutes later the suspect was taken into custody without incident.

The case is being investigated by ISP Master Trooper Troy Cobb.

Assisting at the scene were multiple ISP troopers and Clay County Sheriff's deputies.
