Indiana Republican Leaders Choose Eric Holcomb As Nominee For Governor's Race

Last updated on Wednesday, July 27, 2016

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Republican leaders in Indiana have chosen Lt. Gov. Eric Holcomb as their new candidate for governor.

The 22-member Republican State Committee met Monday morning to vote on Mike Pence's replacement on the ballot. Pence withdrew from the race to become Donald Trump's vice presidential running mate.

Several members of the committee were publicly backing Holcomb, who was also Pence's choice. Other candidates considered for the nomination were U.S. Representative Susan Brooks, U.S. Representative Todd Rokita, and state Senator Jim Tomes.

Holcomb will face Democrat John Gregg in November.
