Bill To Allow Public Body Camera Footage Now In Effect

Last updated on Friday, July 1, 2016

(STATEHOUSE) - Your right to view police body cam footage is part of a new state law that goes into effect today.

The law means everyone can look at police body cam footage unless it would hurt an investigation, would not serve the public interest, hurt someone, or interfere with a trial.

Law enforcement could also blur the video if there is nudity, severe violence death, or if it would expose an undercover officer or show a minor.
