U.S. Postal Service To Issue Stamp Honoring Indiana's Bicentennial Tuesday

Last updated on Wednesday, June 8, 2016

(INDIANAPOLIS) - The U.S. Postal Service is set to issue a stamp honoring that will feature a native Hoosier’s photograph of a brilliant rural sunset.

The Postal Service will host a stamp dedication ceremony Tuesday at the Indiana Statehouse in Indianapolis where the stamp will be available for purchase to those attending. The Indiana Bicentennial Commission says the stamp is expected to be available Wednesday at post offices statewide.

The South Bend Tribune reports that the image on the stamp was taken by 25-year-old Milford native Michael Matti and shows clouds streaming above a cornfield in northern Indiana's Kosciusko County.

The stamp comes as Indiana celebrates the 200th anniversary of its statehood. Indiana became the nation's 19th state on December 11, 1816.
