SEATTLE, WA) - National Frozen Foods Corporation announced Saturday it was recalling a limited quantity of (Not-Ready-To-Eat frozen green peas and frozen mixed vegetables.

The frozen vegetables are carried under Great Value, Market Pantry and several other major brands.

These frozen vegetables have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria, a bacteria which can cause serious, and sometimes fatal, infections in young children, frail or elderly people, or people with weakened immune systems. Listeria can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

The announcement says that following the cooking preparation instructions on the labels will effectively reduce the risk to the Listeria bacterium.

The recall is the result of a sample tested by the company which revealed the finished products may be contaminated with bacteria. There have been no reported illnesses attributed to the recalled items so far.
