(SELLERSBURG) - An elderly woman was carjacked Monday outside a southern Indiana Cracker Barrel.

Surveillance video provided by the Sellersburg Police Department appears to show a man approaching the driver's side of a four-door Buick. He then reaches inside and yanks an 85-year-old woman from the driver's seat, jumps in, and then takes off with her car.

"Picture your grandma and some guy doing this to your grandma. I can't say on camera what this guy deserves, but I think everybody knows what he deserves," said Sellersburg Police Chief William Whelan.

The elderly woman, who police say is from New Albany, suffered cuts and bruises.

"This was very brazen, middle of the day ... bright day outside," Chief Whelan said.

The car has a front license plate that reads "Jarvis" -- and is a 2001 model.

According to officials, the suspect didn't show a weapon, the woman told investigators the man didn't even say a word to her while taking her car.

Police don't know if the man is from the area, but they do have security footage to use to try and track him down.

If you have any information about the incident, you're asked to call Sellersburg police at (812) 246-6996..

Whelan says they have identified a man shown in surveillance pictures from a nearby Circle K, and do not believe he was involved in the carjacking.

Police say the woman's purse was found in a trash can in Louisville in the Germantown neighborhood.
