Last updated on Wednesday, June 29, 2016

(FORT WAYNE) - 165 new jobs are expected to be created by 2020 in Fort Wayne.

Dana is investing $90 million to expand its West State Boulevard plant.

Dana has filed a request with Fort Wayne City Council for a tax abatement to offset the cost of the expansion.

According to the request, Dana is seeking a 100-percent abatement over the first year, dropping 10 percent annually over the next decade. The Dana plant will be adding new equipment, keep the nearly 600 jobs already existing and will pay on average more than $36,000 a year.

The average Dana worker today earns a $55,000 salary.

Dana plans to install the new equipment by the end of 2019.

Dana produces light axles for the automotive industry at the plant.
