(BICKNELL) - A Bicknell Police Officer will not face disciplinary action as a result of charges brought against him.
The City's Board of Works on Monday vindicated Bicknell Police Officer Kevin Carroll of any wrongdoing after a citizen had filed a complaint of harassment.
Bicknell City Attorney Michael Owens says the Board of Works held an executive session Monday to review the findings of an Indiana State Police investigation into the case. Owens says the board also heard a little over an hour of testimony from witnesses. After adjourning the executive session, the board convened in regular session to announce its findings.
Mayor Thomas Estabrook recommended that, based on the evidence presented, no disciplinary action against Carroll was warranted. Board Members Max Nickless and Steve Volling concurred with the findings. The Board did vote to place a letter of reprimand in Carroll's file on a second charge of neglect of duty. According to Owens, Carroll had failed to comply with the mandatory number of hours of training police officers are required to undergo each year.
The law requires officers to complete 24 hours of training. Owens says that Carroll came up an hour short.
