Last updated on Tuesday, May 3, 2016

(VINCENNES) - Water service was knocked out and streets were flooded with thousands of gallons of water Sunday morning when a car struck and knocked a fire hydrant out of the ground at 2nd and Manila Streets in Vincennes.

The driver was not seriously injured.

However, area residents were without water service for about 12-hours while repairs were made.

In addition, about three inches of mud had to be scraped from 2nd Street before it could be reopened to traffic.
