Last updated on Tuesday, May 17, 2016

(HARTFORD CITY) - A teenager died after an accident involving a tree stump grinder Saturday in Blackford County.

Blackford County Coroner Tod Waters said an 18-year-old Yorktown man was working with his uncle at a home on County Road 200 North east of State Road 3.

The uncle, who owns Homeland Tree Service, was operating a tree stump grinder when the teenager became "entangled" in the machinery around 4:30 p.m., according to Waters.

The teen was pronounced dead at the scene of multiple traumatic injuries, the coroner said.

His name has not been released. A third man working on the site was not involved. The coroner said the machine appeared to be operating normally.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Gant Funeral Home in Yorktown.
