(INDIANAPOLIS) - A Chicago man is in jail facing felony drug charges after troopers found suspected cocaine in the vehicle he was operating during a traffic stop in Indianapolis.

On Tuesday at approximately 5:20 p.m., troopers conducted a traffic stop on a 2005 Jeep Cherokee after it was observed following another vehicle too closely on I-70 EB at the 93 mile marker.

During the course of the traffic stop and while speaking to the driver, 22-year-old Bertin Mendoza of Chicago, troopers observed indicators of possible criminal activity.

An Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Officer deployed his K-9 partner on the vehicle that resulted in a positive alert.

A search of the vehicle by officers resulted in locating nine, individually wrapped, kilograms of suspected cocaine hidden in the rear of the vehicle.

Mendoza was arrested and transported to the Marion County Adult Processing Center on a charge of possession of cocaine, level 6 felony and dealing cocaine, level 4 felony.
