Former Galveston Town Marshal Arrested On Three Felony Charges

Last updated on Monday, May 2, 2016

(CASS CO.) - Thursday at approximately 10 a.m., a criminal investigation by Indiana State Police Detective Josh Rozzi resulted in the arrest of former Galveston Town Marshal 54-year-old Michael Clark of Cloverdale.

Clark, who is serving as the Cloverdale Town Marshal, was arrested when he surrendered to deputies at the Cass County Sheriff's Department. He was served a Cass Superior Court I arrest warrant alleging three felony charges for theft.

Rozzi started an investigation after receiving information that Clark had allegedly misappropriated funds from the non for profit organization Friends of the Galveston Police Department Inc. The organization was set up, in 2008, to receive donations from the public. The donated money was to be used exclusively to pay for equipment and training for the Galveston Police Department.

The investigation revealed that Clark was a Galveston Deputy Town Marshal, at various times, starting in 1986. In 2011, he was named the Galveston Town Marshal. Clark resigned from the Galveston Police Department in March of 2013. Rozzi's investigation revealed that from March 12, 2013 until April 30, 2013, Clark allegedly made several unauthorized purchases, for personal gain, utilizing funds from the Friends of the Galveston Police Department Inc. The purported purchases totaled $1,922.67.
