Comcast Launches X1 DVR With Cloud Technology And Live In-Home Streaming In Indiana

Last updated on Tuesday, May 24, 2016

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Comcast announced that its X1 customers across Indiana can now access their TV lineup on any connected screen in their home via X1 DVR with Cloud Technology.

Additionally, they will be able to download programs they have recorded on their digital video recorder (DVR) to watch on IP-enabled devices or stream them using an Internet connection, anytime and anywhere. The in-home streaming feature provides access to virtually the entire channel line-up on mobile devices and computers.

Comcast Public Relations Director Mike Wilson says it is value-add services like X1 DVR with Cloud Technology that have helped the company grow customers and increase loyalty in Indiana.

"The 'if you build it, they will come' model has paid some big dividends, with a larger and happier customer base," Wilson said. "We've invested millions of dollars improving the customer experience and Hoosiers are positively responding."

The company's investment in new products and enhanced features is helping to reverse the cord cutting trend and increase customer loyalty in Indiana and nationwide.

"Fewer customers are leaving us because they are getting more value out of the products and services we offer," Wilson said.

X1 DVR with Cloud Technology gives customers more flexibility for viewing their favorite programming at home or on the go. While in the home, they can watch any recording on IP-enabled devices over Comcast's managed network, or download recordings to take on the go. Out-of-home, they can use an Internet connection to stream or download their completed recordings as well.

"The download function is pretty significant because the show that was on your DVR can now be downloaded right to your mobile device, which means after your show is downloaded, you don't NEED an internet connection," Wilson said.

X1 customers get 500 Gigabytes of storage and have the ability to record up to six shows at once. There is no additional charge for this service.

To deliver these new features to Xfinity TV customers, Comcast has launched an Xfinity TV app for iOS and Android tablets and smartphones, and a dedicated portal for viewing on computers. To live stream their TV lineups or watch DVR and On Demand programming while on tablets or smartphones in their homes, customers can simply download the Xfinity TV app from the App Store, open the app and sign-in with their Xfinity TV credentials.

Existing customers can enjoy X1 DVR with Cloud Technology and streaming services by upgrading to the X1 Entertainment Operating System. Existing X1 customers should contact Comcast to receive the new service. Comcast does not charge an upgrade fee but installs may be required depending on the customer's level of service and current product lineup.
