Substitute Teacher Arrested After Threatening Students

(ROCKVILLE) - A letter to parents quickly turns into an arrest.

Rockville Police Chief Randy Kneeland says 72-year-old substitute teacher Louis Gudino Jr. was taken into custody Friday.

He says this is after reported events that took place in a 4th grade classroom Thursday morning.

"Just bizarre things to be telling a 4th grade student," Kneeland said. "and other incidents."

Those incidents include Gudino putting his hands up to a student's neck, wrapping a cord around at least two student's necks, threatening to poke eyes out with a pen, and telling students if they want to fight to meet him in the parking lot.

Chief Kneeland says five students have reported to him instances when Gudino was inappropriate and they felt threatened or intimidated.

"According to the kids he told them that he was known for choking kids," Kneeland added.

Kneeland says Gudino also admits to telling students he was in a gang, claiming he's the cousin of drug lord El Chapo.

"Mr. Gudino told us he never told anyone that he would kill them but he did admit that one students asked him several times are you gonna kill me and he finally said yes you better watch your back," Kneeland added.

According to police, Gudino is a sub at surrounding schools and an area sports referee.

Gudino admitted to telling student at " South Vermillion schools, Southwest Park and North Central Parke similar things.

Gudino was arrested on a charge of battery, a Level 6 felony, due to the fact that the victims are under the age of 14 and a misdemeanor intimidation charge. Other charges are pending.

He's due in court on Monday.

Kneeland says Gudino is not permitted back on school grounds.
