Mushroom Hunters Arrested After Trespassing On School Property

Last updated on Friday, April 29, 2016

(CLINTON) - Men dressed in camouflage, parked at a school and went mushroom hunting and were taken to jail.

South Vermillion School Corporation was on lockdown Tuesday.

The school called police about two men dressed in camo that had parked their car in the staff parking lot. The men walked around the middle school, across the yard into the woods behind the building.

Tons of law enforcement showed up within minutes. Neither of the men made contact with the school.

Police found both men a few hours after the call and arrested both 54-year-old Gregory Lowe and 52-year-old John Wilson, both of Clinton.

The men did not have any firearms with them and told police they simply parked there to go mushroom hunting. The man said they didn't need permission from school officials to be on the property.

Both men are now facing charges of criminal trespassing on school property.
