Murder, Arson Charges Filed In Death Of Logansport Woman

Last updated on Thursday, April 7, 2016

(LOGANSPORT) - The boyfriend of a north central Indiana woman killed in a New Year’s Day fire is facing murder and arson charges in the case.

The charges were filed Monday in Cass Superior Court in Logansport against 61-year-old David Lee Hicks. He was arrested that day in Washington County, Tennessee.

Logansport firefighters found 57-year-old Michele Jones unresponsive in her burning apartment shortly after 1 a.m. on Jan. 1. She died the next day in a Fort Wayne hospital.

Investigators say they interviewed Hicks twice, once in nearby Howard County on Jan. 3 and again last week in Jonesborough, Tennessee, before turning the case over to prosecutors.

It's not clear whether Hicks has an attorney who might comment on his case.
