(HAMMOND) - A northwestern Indiana funeral home bookkeeper employee faces up to 20 years in prison for allegedly embezzling more than $340,000.
Court records filed Wednesday in the U.S. District Court in Hammond show Donna Dickson has a change of plea hearing scheduled for May 11. She has agreed to plead guilty to one count of scheme to defraud.
Federal prosecutors allege Dickson used her position as a bookkeeper at Burns Funeral Home to funnel money for her own use beginning in 2008. The funeral home has locations in Crown Point and Hobart.
Documents say Dickson took portions of cash payments made by clients.
As part of the plea deal, Dickson has agreed to pay the loss back in full.
