Last updated on Monday, April 18, 2016

(EVANSVILLE) - Evansville Police are searching for a man wanted for attempted murder.

Officers were called to the 1100 block of Powell Avenue around 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

When they got there, they found 22-year-old Antonio Bushrod Jr. on the ground with a gunshot wound to the chest. Bushrod was taken to the hospital for life-threatening injuries.

Police say they are looking for 23-year-old Dontez Bryant. We're told he is wanted for attempted murder in connection to the shooting.

He is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information is asked to call police.

Bushrod has had many encounters with Evansville Police in the past.

In 2011, he was arrested after a firearm was found inside his locker at Bosse High School. He was 17 at the time. He was also one of six people indicted by a grand jury on charges related to gang violence this past March.

Police are also familiar with Bryant. He was arrested in 2015 after he allegedly robbed the person he planned to buy an Xbox from.
