Death Investigation Underway After Body Found In Lake

(NORTH VERNON) - Indiana State Police and Jennings County Sheriff’s Department are currently conducting a death investigation after a body was found in a lake in the 1900 Block of East County Road 100 South, just south of Vernon.

The investigation began at approximately 4 p.m. Saturday when the Jennings County Sheriff's Department responded to the area after a caller reported spotting the body in a nearby lake.

Indiana State Police detectives were soon requested to respond to the scene to assist the sheriff's department with the ongoing investigation. Indiana Conservation Officers also responded and provided K-9's and other resources.

The victim was identified as 48-year-old Jama D. Brown, of North Vernon.

The investigation is ongoing.
