Dalai Lama Coming To Indianapolis To Speak About World Peace, Tolerance

Last updated on Friday, April 15, 2016

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Indianapolis will host the Dalai Lama this summer as Tibet’s highest Buddhist priest plans a speaking event about world peace and tolerance.

The spiritual leader will speak at the Indiana Farmer's Coliseum at the State Fairgrounds on June 25. It will be his first visit to Indiana since he drew more than 9,000 people to Banker's Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis in 2010.

Though he was born in 1935 with the name Lhamo Dhondup, Tenzin Gyatso was recognized when he was 2 years old as the reincarnation of the 13th Dalai Lama, Thubten Gyatso. The current Dalai Lama won a Nobel Peace prize for his work trying to liberate Tibet from China despite his exile to India.
