(ANGEL MOUNDS) - The Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Department says a botched drug deal near the Angel Mounds state historic site in Evansville ended with two behind bars and another hospitalized.

The shooting took place in a parking lot near the historic site's levee trails around 4 p.m. Saturday.

According to the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office, 20-year-old Michael Lynn Alexander Jr., of Princeton, met the victim, Dalton Chase Faughn, of Carmi, after agreeing to sell him drugs.

The sheriff's office says Alexander's intention was to shoot a friend of Faughn's, whom he suspected of previously burglarizing his home and who he hoped would be accompanying Faughn.

We're told Faughn attempted to leave after the drug transaction did not occur, but Alexander shot at him three times from a revolver.

Faughn was struck in the arm and chest. The last round hit the truck Faughn left in.

After the shooting, Alexander's girlfriend, 22-year-old Kendra Corrallen Pritchett of Evansville, drove Alexander away from the scene. Faughn was taken to the hospital by a friend, who also gave police a description of the vehicle Alexander took off in.

An Indiana State Trooper pulled Pritchett over on I-69. She initially complied, but then fled after the trooper requested backup.

Pritchett allegedly threw out narcotics and a revolver during a pursuit with the trooper and EPD.

The pursuit reportedly continued onto Morgan Avenue, where police say Pritchett drove off the roadway, re-entered oncoming traffic, and struck a van head-on. The driver of the van was hurt.

Alexander was taken into custody at the scene. Pritchett was taken to the hospital before she was arrested by Indiana State Police.

Both Alexander and Pritchett are in the Vanderburgh County Jail on various charges. Faughn is still in the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The incident is still under investigation and additional charges may be filed.
