Last updated on Tuesday, March 22, 2016

(COLUMBUS) - A semi loaded with 27,000 pounds of Pop Tarts overturned on Interstate 65 in southern Bartholomew County, blocking one lane of traffic for several hours.

Sheriff's Deputy Adam Warner said the accident happened at the 57.5 mile marker of southbound I-65, south of Columbus, at about 11:45 p.m. Sunday.

The driver, 47-year-old Ross Liechtenstein of Chicago, was initially trapped in the semi, but was freed by Columbus firefighters and treated at the scene for minor injuries, deputies said.

The southbound left lane was closed down for more than three hours while the truck filled with more than 13 tons of toaster pastries was cleaned up, deputies report.
