ISP Investigating Death Of Woman At Soldiers And Sailors Monument

(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Indiana State Police are investigating the death of a woman inside the Indiana Soldiers and Sailors Monument.

Police and paramedics were dispatched to One Monument Circle around 5:33 p.m. Saturday after a report of a person down.

When police arrived they found that 41-year-old Jennifer Civitarese, of Kokomo, fell on the steps inside the monument and was pronounced deceased on the scene.

A Witness told investigators she fell down approximately 8 stairs to a landing.

There is no foul play suspected and an autopsy will be conducted by the Marion County Coroner's Officer to determine the exact cause of death.

The Soldiers and Sailors Monument was closed for the remainder of the evening, however there are no restrictions outside of the building. There is no further information available at this time.

ISP Detective Randy Pratt is investigating the incident. Assisting at the scene was Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, Capitol Police Department, Indianapolis Fire Department, Marion County Coroner's Office.
