Islamic Community Offering $10K Reward Leading For Those Responsible For Fatal Shooting Of Three People

Last updated on Monday, March 7, 2016

(FORT WAYNE) - The Islamic community in Indiana’s second-largest city is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for the fatal shootings of three people.

The Islamic Center of Fort Wayne's president, J. Tamir Rasheed, announced Friday that the reward money is being put up by members of the local Islamic community.

The bodies of 23-year-old Mohamedtaha Omar, 20-year-old Adam Kamel Mekki and 17-year-old Muhannad Adam Tairab were found Feb. 24 in a house. Two of them were Muslim and the third was a Christian.

The Journal Gazette reports Rasheed says the Muslim community believes police are working diligently to solve the killings but doesn't want it to end up as another cold case.

Investigators have said they don't believe the shootings were a hate crime.
