Highway Fencing To Protect Turtles

Last updated on Wednesday, March 2, 2016

(VIGO CO.) - Plans are moving forward to place turtle fencing along U.S. Highway 40 in Vigo County.

The fencing will cover a mile on each side of the road in the Wabashiki Wetland area between Terre Haute and West Terre Haute.

The fencing is designed to keep turtles from crossing the busy highway.

A bid was accepted and all the materials have now been collected for the project. Construction is expected to happen this spring.
