Fall From Vehicle Kills 17-Year-Old Boy

(CANNELTON) - A Cannelton teen died Saturday morning from injuries he suffered after falling fom a moving vehicle at Hargis Hafele Riverfront Park Friday night.

17-year-old Elijah Meunier died Saturday at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville from his injuries.

According to a Cannelton Police Department report, officers were called to the park at 9:29 p.m. Friday after a report that someone had fallen from a moving vehicle and was injured.

When police arrived, a Perry County Emergency Medical Service crew was treating Meunier. He was taken to Perry County Memorial Hospital and then transferred to Deaconess Hospital. .

The driver of the vehicle, 17-year-old David James of Gatchel, was taken by ambulance to Perry County Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released.

Police say, drugs nor alcohol did not appear to be factors in the accident.

The accident remains under investigation.

Assisting at the scene were Tell City Police officers, Perry County Sheriff's Department deputies and Perry County Emergency Management Agency first responders.
