$10K Reward Offered For Information In Jasper Home Arson-Burglary

Last updated on Friday, March 18, 2016

(JASPER) - A $10,000 reward is now being offered to anyone supplying information that leads to the arrest of the person responsible for burglarizing a Jasper home and setting a fire inside it in February.

The Jasper Police Department was called to the residence at 1449 Dewey Street at 4:06 a.m. on Sunday, February 21.

Police say a male suspect entered the home and took some items while the occupants were sleeping. They say he then started a fire near a rear door in the home using an accelerant before leaving.

The residents awoke just as the suspect was leaving the house, police said, and were able to extinguish the fire with minimal damage to the house.

Police say the International Association of Arson Investigators, Indiana Chapter 14, in cooperation with the Indiana State Fire Marshal and area property insurance companies are offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible.

The Community Strike Force Against Crime is offering an additional $5,000 in the case, bringing the total reward to $10,000.

The investigation has been ongoing since the incident and police have received assistance from the Jasper Volunteer Fire Department, Indiana State Fire Marshal and Indiana State Police Evidence Technicians.

Anyone with information that could further the investigation is asked to call the arson hotline at (800) 382-4628, Jasper police at (812) 482-2255 or the department's anonymous tip line at 481-COPS (2677).
