Police Pursuit In Morgan Co. Ends With Vehicle In Water

(MORGAN CO.) - An attempt to stop a suspected drunk driver in Morgan County ended when the suspect drove the SUV into a pond, prompting a water rescue.

It happened shortly after 4 a.m. Sunday when Mooresville police tried to stop the suspect's vehicle at State Rd. 67 and Allison Rd. The driver fled the scene with officers in pursuit, according to Mooresville police.

The chase ended when the suspect drove the SUV through a housing addition, onto a dead-end street, then into a cornfield, over a hill and then plunging into a pond near Hadley Rd. and Linda Dr. With the SUV sinking in the water, a rescue unfolded and the female driver was recovered and transported to St. Francis Hospital in Mooresville. Her condition is not known at this time.
