Police Find 500 Pounds Of Marijuana In Semi At Fishers Walmart

Last updated on Thursday, February 4, 2016

(FISHERS) - Police have made an arrest after finding 500 pounds of marijuana in a semi parked at a Fishers Walmart.

A Fishers police officer noticed suspicious activity around the trailer in the 8300 block of E. 96th Street around 4 a.m. Tuesday. The officer questioned the driver, then called for a K-9 officer to assist.

A search of the trailer turned up the large amount of marijuana. Nestle USA says the product in the truck - described by police as Nestle coffee creamer - was being transported from California to Indiana by a third party motor carrier hired by Nestle's transportation broker. The company said that the driver of the truck was not a Nestlé employee. Nestle USA says it's cooperating with law enforcement.

Two people were detained for questioning at the scene, though investigators determined only the driver had knowledge of the drugs. That man, 25-year-old Isaac Roberto Aristiga Bojorquez of Mexico was taken to the Hamilton County Jail to be booked for intent to deliver marijuana over five pounds.

Police said the semi had no connection to Walmart, but was parked in an area of the lot used for overnight parking. That lot has raised some concerns from its neighbors.

The investigation is ongoing.
